Instructions

1.In a large pot, sauté the minced onion and garlic in the olive oil until translucent.
2.Add the canned tomatoes, vegetable broth, chopped pasilla pepper, and masa harina (if using). Stir well.
3.Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
4.Add the lime juice and stir well.
5.In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
6.Fry half of the tortilla strips at a time until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
7.Toss the remaining tortilla strips with salt, chili powder, and lime juice.
8.Serve the soup topped with crispy tortilla strips and crumbled chihuahua cheese.
