Ingredients

1 lb tomatillo ( approximately 10-12 medium tomatillos )
1/3 cup white onion , coarsely chopped
1/2 cup cilantro leaf , lightly packed ( NOT dried )
1 jalapeno pepper ( for extra `` kick '' , I use serrano and jalapeno , but any green chili pepper will do )
2 garlic cloves , chopped
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Tomatillo Salsa Fresca is a spicy and tangy dipping sauce that originated in Mexico. It's made with fresh tomatillos, onions, garlic, and cilantro leaves that are blended together to create a chunky salsa. This sauce is perfect for dipping tortilla chips, adding to tacos, burritos, or serving as a side dish to grilled meats. Instructions

1.Preheat the broiler.
2.Remove the papery husks from the tomatillos and rinse them under cold water.
3.Cut the tomatillos in half and place them cut-side down on a baking sheet.
4.Add the onions, garlic, and jalapeno peppers to the baking sheet.
5.Broil for 5-7 minutes, or until the tomatillos are soft and slightly charred on the outside.
6.Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
7.Transfer the tomatillos, onions, garlic, and jalapeno peppers to a blender or food processor.
8.Add the cilantro leaves, sugar, and salt.
9.Pulse a few times until everything is combined but still slightly chunky.
10.Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
