Ingredients

2 yellow onions , quartered
2 links chorizo sausage , casings removed
1 green bell pepper , quartered and seeded
6 cloves clove garlic
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
2 eggs , beaten
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 dash ground cumin
sea salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil , or as needed
12 hamburger buns , split
Fritas Cubanas, or Cuban hamburgers, are a popular fast food in Cuba. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400°F.
2.In a food processor, pulse onion, bell pepper, garlic, and chorizo until finely chopped.
3.In a large bowl, combine chorizo mixture with ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, eggs, ketchup, cumin, salt, and pepper until thoroughly mixed.
4.Shape into 12 patties and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.
5.Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
6.Working in batches, cook patties until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
7.Transfer skillet to oven and cook until patties are cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
8.Toast buns and serve patties on top.
