Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs potatoes
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper

6 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
1/4 lb swiss cheese , cut julienne
1 lb ham , cooked and cut julienne

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.Peel and slice the potatoes into small rounds and put them in a pot of salted water. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes for about 15 minutes until they are tender.
3.Drain the potatoes and place them back in the pot with salt, white pepper, nutmeg, and 4 tablespoons of butter. Mash with a potato masher until smooth.
4.In a greased baking dish, sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the bottom and sides. Layer half the mashed potatoes over the breadcrumbs, then top with half the ham and Swiss cheese. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
5.Bake the pie in the oven for 30 – 40 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
