Scone-topped beef casserole is a classic English dish that's perfect for a home-cooked meal. The beef is simmered in a savory sauce with onions, carrots, and celery, making it hearty and flavorful. To top it off, the scones are baked on top until golden brown, providing a crispy and buttery texture to each bite. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in with family or friends.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.Cut the chuck steak into bite-size pieces.
3.Heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven. Add the chuck steak, in batches if necessary, and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
4.Add onion, carrot, and celery to the same pot and cook until softened. Add flour and stir until combined. Gradually add in the beef stock and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until the mixture thickens.
5.Add the beef back to the pot and stir until it's coated in the sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Simmer for 10 minutes.
6.In a separate bowl, combine self raising flour, melted butter, milk, parsley, parmesan cheese, and celery salt. Mix until it forms a dough.
7.Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the beef mixture. Place the pot in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.
