Ingredients

1 lb dried dates , finely chopped ( dried pressed dates )
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup milk

Instructions

1.In a saucepan, cook dates, butter, water, cardamom, and cloves on medium heat until dates are soft.
2.Set aside to cool.

5.Add milk and mix until dough forms.
6.Divide dough into small balls.
7.Flatten each ball with your palm and place a spoonful of date mixture in the center.
8.Wrap dough around date mixture and form into crescent shapes.
9.Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
