Ingredients

1/4 cup minced shallot

1 lb fresh lump crabmeat , drained and picked
1 large egg , lightly beaten
1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs , divided ( Japanese breadcrumbs )
4 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar

Instructions

3.Form the mixture into small, bite-sized cakes. Coat each cake with the remaining 3/4 cup of panko breadcrumbs.
4.Heat the canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the crab cakes, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
5.In a small mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, cilantro, ginger, and rice vinegar. Mix well to make the aioli dipping sauce.
6.Serve the crab cakes hot, with the ginger aioli dipping sauce on the side.
