Ingredients

4 japenese eggplants
1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cups finely sliced Chinese cabbage
1/2 cup of fresh mint , coarsely chopped
1/2 cup feta cheese , crumbled
toasted sesame seeds , for garnish
1/3 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sesame paste
1/2 garlic clove , finely minced
1 teaspoon gingerroot , finely minced
1 tablespoon honey
1 dash kosher salt
1 medium shallot , coarsely chopped
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons dark sesame oil

Instructions

1.Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
2.Cut the eggplants in half, lengthwise, and place them in a large mixing bowl.
3.In a separate bowl, mix together Chinese five spice powder, onion powder, garlic salt, fresh ground black pepper, and olive oil.
4.Rub the spice mixture all over the eggplant halves, making sure they are well coated.
5.Place the eggplants cut-side down on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes, then flip them over and grill for an additional 3-4 minutes.
6.While the eggplants are grilling, prepare the vinaigrette. In a blender, combine orange juice, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame paste, garlic, gingerroot, honey, kosher salt, shallot, vegetable oil, and dark sesame oil. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
7.Serve the grilled eggplants on top of a bed of finely sliced Chinese cabbage.
8.Drizzle the Asian Vinaigrette over the top of the eggplants.
9.Sprinkle chopped fresh mint, crumbled feta cheese, and toasted sesame seeds over the eggplants.
