1/2 kg bonless stewing lamb
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion , finely chopped
1 garlic clove , minced
1/4 cup chopped sweet pepper ( red , orange , yellow , or green ) ( optional )
1/2 cup canned tomatoes , pureed or 3/4 cup chopped pealed tomatoes
3/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon baharat , spice mix recipe # 224763 or 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
salt
fresh ground black pepper
1/4 cup chopped parsley

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.

3.Add the 1/2 kg boneless stewing lamb and cook for about 3-4 more minutes until browned on all sides.
4.Add 1/4 cup of pureed or chopped peeled tomatoes and 3/4 cup of water, season with 1/2 teaspoon of baharat or ground allspice, salt, and fresh ground black pepper.
5.Bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and place in the oven.
6.Bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until the meat is tender and the sauce is thickened. Check occasionally and add more water if necessary. The final consistency should be like a thick soup.
7.Top with 1/4 cup of chopped parsley and serve hot with pilaf or bread.
