Ingredients

2/3 cup ground dark roast coffee
4 cinnamon sticks , crushed or broken into small pieces
6 cups water
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
2/3 cup honey
ice cube
half-and-half or milk
Constantine Coffee is a coffee that has become a staple in Greek cuisine and is commonly served at special events. The recipe originated in Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey) and was once served to sultans. The flavor of cinnamon and cardamom adds a twist to the traditional coffee flavor and the honey helps to balance out the aroma. Serve hot or cold, with half-and-half or milk.

Instructions

1.In a large pot, combine ground coffee and cinnamon sticks.
2.Add water and cardamom, then stir to combine.
3.Heat the pot over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it comes to a boil.
4.Reduce the heat and let the coffee simmer for about 10 minutes.
5.Remove the pot from the heat, add honey, then stir until it dissolves.
6.Allow the coffee to sit for a couple of minutes.
7.Strain the coffee into a large jug.
8.Allow the coffee to cool down and refrigerate.
9.Serve over ice cubes and add half-and-half or milk if desired.
