Ingredients

2 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup canned bean sprouts
1/2 cup shredded carrot
1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil , plus
2 tablespoons vegetable oil ( divided )
1/3 lb ground beef
1/3 cup green onion , sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons sesame seeds , toasted
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh gingerroot
3 cloves garlic , minced
1 1/2 teaspoons sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 package wonton wrappers
1 egg , lightly beaten
3 tablespoons water

Instructions

1.In a mixing bowl, combine cabbage, bean sprouts, and shredded carrots. Mix well.
2.Heat 1 1/2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper, then cook until the beef is no longer pink. Remove from heat.
3.In the same skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add the vegetable mixture and cook for about 4 minutes or until the veggies become tender. Mix the beef with the vegetable mixture. Add sesame seeds, sesame oil, and green onion, then stir well.
4.In a small bowl, mix the egg and water. Set aside.
5.Separate the wonton skins and place 1 teaspoon of the filling on each skin. Use the egg mixture to seal the edges by brushing lightly.
6.To cook the wontons, heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a pot until hot enough. Fry the wontons in batches until golden brown, around 3-4 minutes. Take them out and lay them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
7.Serve with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
