Ingredients

4 sheets flat korean fish cakes
1 small onion , sliced
1 red bell pepper , thinly sliced
2 carrots , julliened
2 teaspoons sesame , soy bean oil blend ( or vegetable cooking oil )
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons korean red pepper paste ( Gochujang )
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon rice wine
1 fresh garlic clove , minced
2 green onions , sliced
1/4 inch piece ginger , chopped
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Korean Stir Fried Fish Cakes, also known as Odaeng, is a classic Korean street food dish. Fish cakes are made from a mixture of fish paste, starch, and seasoning, shaped into various forms, and then grilled or fried. This dish is often enjoyed as street food or as a side dish in Korean households. Korean Red Pepper Paste (Gochujang) is a fermented condiment made of chili powder, glutinous rice, meju powder, salt, and water. It is a staple ingredient in Korean cuisine and adds a sweet and spicy flavor to many dishes.

Instructions

1.Cut the fish cakes into small triangles or squares.
2.In a small bowl mix together soy sauce, Korean red pepper paste, light brown sugar, rice wine, garlic, and ginger.
3.Heat up the sesame oil in a large frying pan or wok. When the oil is hot, add in sliced onion and stir fry for a few minutes until they start to soften.
4.Add in the red bell pepper and julliened carrots. Stir fry for an additional few minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
5.Add in the fish cakes and stir everything together.
6.Add the sauce mix to the pan and stir everything together until the fish cakes are coated with the sauce and everything is heated through.
7.Turn off the heat, add the sliced green onions and a teaspoon of sesame oil. Stir everything together one more time before serving.
