Ingredients

2 cups raw rice , washed and cooked such that the grains remain separate
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
1 sprig curry leaf
1 large lime , juice of
2 tablespoons peanuts , skinned
2 dried red chilies
1 teaspoon Urad Dal
1 teaspoon channa dal
1 piece ginger , crushed
3 -4 green chilies , slit
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 tablespoons coconut
salt
2 tablespoons cooking oil
Chitranna is a popular rice dish from the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is often served as a part of a traditional meal or offered as prasad (offering to the deity) in temples. The word Chitranna means 'lemon rice' and is a combination of cooked rice, spices and peanuts. It is a simple dish that can be prepared quickly and easily. Instructions

1.Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaf, dried red chili and let them crackle.
2.Add urad dal, channa dal, peanuts, ginger, green chili, turmeric powder, and sauté till the dal turns golden.
3.Add the cooked rice, salt, and coconut to the pan and stir well.
4.Squeeze lime juice on top.
5.Serve hot.
