Ingredients

1 cup flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup warm water
1 cup buttermilk ( or yogurt )
1 egg , room temp
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons oil
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons butter
1 1 tablespoon poppy seeds or 1 tablespoon cornmeal
Naan is a traditional Indian flatbread that has been enjoyed for centuries. The bread can be served with a wide variety of meals and works as a substitute for traditional bread. Instructions

1.In a bowl, mix the yeast, flour, salt together with warm water and make a smooth dough.
2.Place the dough in a separate bowl of warm water and let it rest for an hour.
3.Add buttermilk (or yogurt), egg, honey, oil, and 2 1/2 cups flour to the dough, mix well and knead for 10-15 minutes.
4.Roll the dough into 8-10 round balls and let them rest for 10-15 minutes.
5.Roll each ball into a thin round shape and place it on a baking sheet.
6.Baste the naan with butter and sprinkle some poppy seeds or cornmeal.
7.Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and bake for 10-12 minutes until the naan turns golden brown.
8.Remove the naan from the oven and spread some butter on it before serving.
