Ingredients

1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons channa dal
2 tablespoons Urad Dal ( white gram beans )
15 small dry red chile
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida powder
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt , to taste
1 1/2 1 1/2 tablespoons palm sugar or 1 1/2 tablespoons jaggery

Instructions

1.Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan and roast the channa dal and Urad dal until golden brown.
2.Add the dry red chili and roast until they darken slightly in color.
3.Add the asafoetida powder and roast for a minute.
4.Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
5.Add salt, sesame seeds and palm sugar or jaggery to the mixture and blend it into a fine powder in a grinder.
6.Store the gun powder in an air-tight container.
