Ingredients

1 cup cooked toor dal
1 1/2 lemon , juice of
salt
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 -3 small hot green chili peppers , cut lengthwise
1/2 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
1 dash asafoetida powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
2 sprigs cilantro leaves , cut fine
4 cups water
Rasam is a south Indian soup that's usually served with rice. It's a thin, spicy soup made with tamarind, lentils, and spices. Lemon Rasam is a variation of the classic Rasam but with a twist of tangy lemon juice. It's a simple and easy soup that can be made with few ingredients. Instructions

1.Take a pot and pour water into it along with cooked toor dal and salt. Set it on medium heat and bring it to a boil.
2.In a small pan, heat vegetable oil and add mustard seeds. When it starts spluttering, add green chilies, ginger, asafoetida, and turmeric. Give it a quick stir and pour the mixture into the boiling dal water.
3.Add lemon juice and cilantro leaves, stir it well and cook it for five minutes until the flavors combine.
