Ingredients

1 teaspoon salt
1 pinch asafoetida powder
1 tomatoes , chopped
1 small green chili pepper , cut lengthwise
2 cups hot water
1 cup cooked dal , toor preferred
1 teaspoon sambhar powder
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
3 curry leaves
1 lemon
1 lime
2 teaspoons vegetable oil or 2 teaspoons ghee
2 sprigs coriander leaves ( optional )

Instructions

1.In a pan, heat vegetable oil or ghee on medium heat.
2.Add in mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
3.Add in curry leaves and green chili pepper and stir for a few seconds.
4.Add in chopped tomatoes, salt, and asafoetida powder and cook for 2-3 minutes.
5.Add in sambar powder and cooked dal and stir well.
6.Add in hot water and bring to a boil.
7.Once boiled, lower the heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.
8.Add in freshly squeezed juice from lemon and lime and stir well.
9.Garnish with coriander leaves if desired and serve hot.
