Ingredients

2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
4 1/2 - 5 cups all-purpose flour , more for dusting and rolling
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons Greek yogurt , plain
1 large egg , lightly beaten
2 tablespoons vegetable oil , more for the bowl
3 tablespoons ghee ( Indian-style clarified butter ) or 3 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted
Naan is a traditional Indian flatbread that is often served with curries or used as a sandwich wrap. This recipe is easy to follow and great for those who love Indian cuisine but want to try making their own bread at home. It's a great alternative to store-bought bread as they can be made fresh and customized to your liking.

Instructions

1.In a small bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and 1/4 cup warm water. Let sit until mixture is foamy, about 5 min.
2.In a large bowl, whisk together 4 1/2 cups flour, salt, and baking powder.
3.In a medium bowl, whisk together yeast mixture, milk, yogurt, egg, and oil.
4.Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until dough forms.
5.Knead dough on floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
6.Place dough in an oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth, set aside to rise for 1-2 hours.
7.Once risen, divide dough into 8-10 balls. Roll out each into a teardrop shape.
8.Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Brush each naan with melted ghee/butter and place in skillet.
9.Cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until puffed with golden brown spots.
10.Remove from skillet and keep warm in a covered dish until ready to serve.

PROS

Easy to make and can be cooked in a cast-iron skillet or oven.

CONS

These naans are quite high in calories and may not be suitable for those watching their weight.
