Ingredients

2 cups brown rice
1/2 cup boiled peas
1/2 cup cooked mung beans
1 cup grated yam
10 cherries
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 1/2 teaspoons green chili paste
1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala ( powder of cinnamon , black pepper , cloves , bayleaf ground together )
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
2 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt ( to taste )

Instructions

1.Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes.
2.Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they start to crackle, add grated yam. Fry for 2-3 minutes.
3.Add turmeric, green chili paste, ginger paste, garlic paste, coriander powder, and garam masala.
4.Fry for another 2-3 minutes, then add peas and cooked mung beans.
5.Add the soaked rice, salt to taste, and 3 and 1/2 cups of water. Let it come to a boil.
6.Close the lid of the pressure cooker, cook until 2 whistles, then reduce heat and cook for another 5 minutes.
7.Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally for 10-15 minutes.
8.Open and fluff the rice with a fork. Garnish with cherries and serve hot.
