Ingredients

1 cup chickpeas
2 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 cup ghee
1 pinch cumin seed
1 pinch asafoetida powder
1 1/4 teaspoons gingerroot , grated
1 bay leaf
2 1/2 tablespoons fresh coconut , chopped
2 1/2 tablespoons raisins
1 1/4 cups green peas
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garam masala

Instructions

1.Rinse the chickpeas and soak overnight in water.

4.In a separate pan, heat ghee over medium flame and add cumin seeds, asafoetida powder, grated ginger root, bay leaf, and grated coconut. Saute for a few minutes.
5.Add raisins, green peas, sugar, paprika and garam masala to the pan and saute for 1-2 minutes.
6.Add the chickpeas to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
