Instructions

1.In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
2.In a large bowl, mix together evaporated milk, 3/8 cup sugar, salt, melted butter or margarine, and egg.
3.Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth.
4.Mix in yeast mixture and remaining 2 cups of flour.
5.Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for around 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
6.Place dough in a greased bowl, cover and let it rest for around 15 minutes.
7.In a separate bowl, combine 2/3 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
8.Mix in 1/2 cup butter or margarine until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
9.Divide dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into balls.
10.Place them on a greased baking sheet with enough space for them to rise.
11.Press each ball of dough flat and cover them with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
12.Let the dough rise again for another 15 minutes.
13.Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the conchas for around 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown on the bottom.
