Ingredients

500 g chicken breasts , sliced into 1 cm chunks
1 large onion , chopped
5 cm piece ginger , chopped
2 garlic cloves , chopped
1 fresh small red chili pepper , chopped ( to taste to your own heat tolerance )
salt and black pepper
water ( a splash )
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 whole black cardamom pods
1 medium white onion , chopped roughly
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
4 tablespoons yoghurt ( whole fat works best for this dish )
4 tablespoons tomato paste
175 ml water
1 teaspoon garam masala ( optional )
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
salt ( to season )
Hajar's Black Cardamom Chicken Curry is a delicious and flavorful dish inspired by Indian cuisine. Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, season the chicken pieces with salt and black pepper.
2.In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned, then transfer to a plate.
3.In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and heat over medium heat. Add the onion, ginger, garlic, and red chili pepper, and cook until tender.
4.Add the cinnamon, black cardamom pods, cumin, and coriander to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
5.Add the yoghurt, tomato paste, and 175 ml of water to the skillet, stir well to combine.
6.Add the chicken back into the skillet, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
7.Remove from heat and stir in the garam masala, lemon juice, and additional salt to taste.
