Ingredients

2 1/2 quarts water
2 lbs pork bones
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon fish sauce ( nuoc mam )
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 garlic clove , chopped
2 shallots ( only the white part ) or 2 scallions , chopped ( only the white part )
1/2 lb crabmeat ( canned , frozen or fresh )
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 egg
1 can white canned asparagus , undrained
1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander ( Chinese parsley )
1/4 cup chopped scallion top
Sup Mang Tay Cua is a popular dish in Vietnam, especially during the summer when asparagus is in season. It is a refreshing and flavorful soup that combines the sweetness of crabmeat with the earthy taste of asparagus. The soup is often served with steamed rice and chili sauce for a complete meal. Instructions

1.Boil the water in a large pot and add pork bones, salt, and fish sauce. Cook for 1 hour and then remove the bones from the soup.
2.In a pan, heat vegetable oil and saute garlic and shallots until fragrant. Add crabmeat and black pepper and cook for 5-7 minutes.
3.Mix cornstarch and water and add it to the soup while stirring.
4.Beat an egg and pour it into the soup while stirring.
5.Add asparagus and cook for 5 minutes.
6.Top with fresh coriander and scallion and serve hot.
