The Pok Pok Wings (Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings) are a popular appetizer in Thai cuisine. They are inspired by the traditional Vietnamese dish called Ga Nuong, which features grilled chicken wings marinated with fish sauce and sugar. The Pok Pok Wings are a deep-fried version of this dish, invented by the famous Thai chef, Andy Ricker. The wings are crispy and sticky, with a hint of sweetness and umami flavor. They are a must-try for anyone who loves fried chicken or Asian cuisine!

Instructions

1.In a mixing bowl, combine fish sauce, sugar, and crushed garlic. Mix until the sugar is completely dissolved.
2.Add chicken wings to the bowl, and marinate for at least 3 hours in the refrigerator.
3.In a separate mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, minced garlic, cilantro, and mint. Mix well.
4.Heat vegetable oil in a pot over high heat. I prefer to use a deep fryer, but you can deep fry on a stove. Fry chicken wings for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
5.Remove chicken wings from the pot, and drain on paper towels. Serve hot!

PROS

The Pok Pok Wings are crispy, juicy, and flavorful.
They are perfect as an appetizer or finger food for your next party or gathering.
The sweet and savory marinade is a crowd-pleaser that everyone will love!

CONS

The Pok Pok Wings are deep-fried, which means they are high in calories and fat.
They should be enjoyed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
The strong fish sauce flavor might not be suitable for some people.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

This recipe is not particularly healthy, but it can be enjoyed as an occasional treat in moderation. The chicken wings provide protein, and the garlic and herbs have immune-boosting properties. However, the sugar and fish sauce in the marinade can contribute to an unhealthy diet if consumed in excess.
