Mishmishiyah is a popular dessert in many Middle Eastern countries, where it is commonly served at weddings and other festive occasions. Its name translates to 'apricot jam,' which describes its sweet, smooth texture, and taste, similar to that of a creamy jam. However, instead of jam, it's a creamy puree, and the apricots give it a unique tangy flavor. Mishmishiyah is particularly refreshing after a hefty meal or in summers when the mere thought of anything heavy like cakes, pies, or tarts can be overwhelming.

Instructions

1.Rinse the dried apricots in water and then add enough water to cover them in a pot.
2.Cook over low heat until the apricots are soft and easily mashed, for about an hour.
3.Once cooked, puree the apricots in a blender to form a smooth mixture and let it cool.
4.Add lemon juice and heavy cream to the apricot mixture and blend thoroughly.
5.Chill it in the refrigerator until it's ready to be served.
