Indonesian Chicken Kebabs, known as Saté Ayam in Indonesia, are a popular street food and party food in Southeast Asia. These kebabs feature succulent cubes of chicken marinated in a flavorful blend of shallots, garlic, coriander, and soy sauce. They are typically served with a rich peanut sauce, known as Bumbu Saté, which provides a creamy and slightly sweet contrast to the savory chicken kebabs. While they may sound exotic, these kebabs are actually very easy to make and can be enjoyed at home with friends and family.

Instructions

1.Cut chicken into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
2.Make the marinade by blending together shallots, garlic, chili powder, coriander, ginger, soy sauce, white vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a food processor.
3.Reserve 1/3 cup of the marinade for basting the chicken.
4.Pour the remaining marinade over the chicken and mix well to coat completely.
5.Marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
6.Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
7.Thread the chicken onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
8.Grill the chicken kebabs for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred, basting occasionally with the reserved marinade.
9.Serve hot with peanut sauce on the side.

PROS

These chicken kebabs are easy to make and packed with authentic Indonesian flavors like coriander, ginger, and soy sauce.

Perfect for a summer barbeque or weeknight dinner.

CONS

Chicken breasts can easily dry out if overcooked, so be careful not to leave them on the grill for too long.

Also, be aware that the peanut sauce is high in calories and should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
