Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon oil
water , as required
1 pinch salt
2 lbs lean ground meat
1 cup red onion , finely chopped
1/2 cup green onion , finely chopped
1 cup ripe tomatoes , finely chpped
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro , chopped
1 tablespoon fresh garlic , minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger , minced
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg , freshly grated
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon curry powder , or momo masala if available
3 fresh red chilies , minced ( or to taste )
3 tablespoons cooking oil
salt and pepper

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, oil, salt and enough water to form a dough.
2.Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, cover and let it rest for at least half an hour.
3.In another bowl, mix ground meat, red onion, green onion, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, ginger, nutmeg, turmeric, curry powder or momo masala, red chilies, salt and pepper.
4.Roll out the dough into thin circles and cut into 3-inch circles.
5.Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of the circle, dampen the edges with water and fold the edges to form a crescent moon shape.
6.Repeat with the remaining dough and filling until all the momos are finished.
7.Steam the momos for 10-12 minutes or until the filling is cooked through.
8.Serve hot with tomato achaar or soy sauce.
