Ingredients

1 lb flank steaks or 1 lb sirloin steak , sliced thin
4 medium celery ribs
2 medium carrots
1 green onion , stem ( optional )
1/4 cup peanut oil or 1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons sesame oil
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon garlic and red chile paste
1/2 teaspoon Chinese hot mustard
1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon chili oil
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic , minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger , minced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

1.In a bowl, mix cornstarch, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, and 1/4 cup of peanut or canola oil. Add the sliced steak and coat it evenly with the mixture.
2.In a separate bowl, mix sesame oil, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic and red chile paste, hot mustard, rice wine vinegar, chili oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes to create the sauce.
3.Heat a wok or large pan over high heat and add 2 tbsp of oil.
4.Add the sliced carrots and celery to the pan and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
5.Add the coated beef to the pan and cook until lightly browned, then add the sauce mix and stir to coat the beef and vegetables.
6.Continue cooking until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
7.Serve hot over rice or noodles, garnished with green onion if desired.
