Ingredients

2 cups beef broth
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons hershey 's cocoa powder
2 teaspoons minced garlic ( about 4 cloves )
1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger ( I would prefer fresh )
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 lb boneless beef top round steak ( or flank steak )
3 tablespoons vegetable oil , divided
1 1/2 cups onions ( cut in large pieces )
1 cup carrot , sliced
3 cups fresh broccoli florets , and pieces
1 1/2 cups red bell peppers , sliced
hot cooked rice
additional soy sauce
peanuts or cashew nuts , for garnish

Instructions

1.In a medium bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, cornstarch, cocoa, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes.
2.Cut beef into thin strips.
3.In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Add beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until browned. Remove from pan.
4.Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the same skillet/wok. Add onions, carrot, broccoli and red bell peppers, stir-fry for 3-4 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender.
5.Add beef back to the pan along with the sauce mixture. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes or until sauce has thickened and everything is heated through. Serve over warm cooked rice and garnish with peanuts or cashew nuts.
