Ingredients

1 1 lb chuck steaks or 1 lb skirt steak
3 tablespoons cornstarch , divided into 2 T and 1 T portions
2 tablespoons vegetable oil , divided into 2- 1 T portions ( peanut or canola )
1/2 cup water or 1/2 cup beef broth
2 minced garlic cloves or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
4 cups broccoli florets
1 yellow onion , cut in half and sliced into 1/8-inch half rings
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

1.Slice the beef against the grain into thin, bite-sized pieces and toss it with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.
2.Heat a wok or large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil.
3.Fry the beef in batches until browned on all sides, and remove from wok.
4.In the same wok add another tablespoon of oil, broccoli florets, onion, minced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
5.Cook until the broccoli is tender and the onions are translucent.
6.Add the cooked beef back into the wok and stir in soy sauce and brown sugar.
7.Stir fry everything together for a few more minutes until everything is coated in sauce and heated through.
8.Serve with white rice or noodles.
