Ingredients

1 kg prawns ( raw or green )
3 medium onions
3 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons satay sauce ( we use Jimmy 's a bean based sate sauce )
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon curry powder ( I use a hot Madras )
1 teaspoon cornflour ( cornstarch )
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon dry sherry
Sate Prawns, or Sate Udang in Indonesian, is a popular seafood dish that is enjoyed throughout Southeast Asia. Made with prawns that are marinated in a flavorful sauce made with spices like curry powder, chili powder, and five-spice powder, these skewers are then grilled or pan-fried to perfection. Instructions

1.Peel and devein the prawns, then skewer them onto bamboo sticks.
2.Mix together the cornflour, water, five-spice powder, and chili powder in a bowl to form a paste.
3.Heat the oil in a wok or frying pan over high heat.
4.Add the onions and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
5.Add the curry powder, satay sauce, soy sauce, dry sherry, and sugar to the wok and stir well.
6.Add the cornflour paste to the wok and stir until the sauce thickens.
7.Add the prawn skewers to the wok, tossing them to coat them with sauce.
8.Cook the prawns for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through.
9.Serve immediately.
