Ingredients

8 ounces green lentils or 8 ounces brown lentils , washed ( 225g )
1 1/4 pints water
8 ounces rice , washed
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground allspice
salt , to taste
pepper , to taste
1 garlic clove , crushed
2 medium onions , finely sliced
8 fluid ounces yoghurt

Instructions

1.In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
2.Add the lentils and water to the pot, and bring to a boil.
3.Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Add the rice, cumin, allspice, salt, and pepper to the pot, stirring everything together well.
4.Add in the garlic and onions, stirring until evenly distributed. Cover the pot again, and let it simmer for another 20-25 minutes until the rice and lentils are fully cooked.
5.Remove from heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Serve with a dollop of yoghurt on top.
