Ingredients

1 cup warm water
3 packages active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
2 teaspoons white sugar ( for proofing yeast )
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup Crisco , melted
3 eggs , beaten
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sour cream
6 -7 cups flour , some flour reserved for floured board
1 cup mashed potatoes ( Note , reduce the amount of sour cream if you are using leftover mashed potatoes with sour cream or )
8 tablespoons margarine
Pam cooking spray ( for greasing 9 X 13 pans )
4 tablespoons remaining margarine
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons Chinese five spice powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/3 cup light corn syrup
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup margarine
1 cup chopped nuts , any kind

Instructions

1.Add yeast and sugar in warm water and mix it gently.
2.Keep aside the mix for 5 minutes.
3.In another bowl, mix now activated yeast, milk, white sugar, Crisco, eggs, salt, Chinese five spice powder, baking powder, sour cream, mashed potatoes, and flour.
4.Mix it with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients are combined.
5.Once the dough comes together, knead it well for about 10 minutes.
6.Give the dough a warm place with loose covering and let it rest for about an hour until it doubles in size.
7.Heat the margarine and brush onto two 9-by-13-inch baking pans and dust it with flour.
8.Punch the dough down and divide into two pieces. Roll one piece to the size of a 9-by-13-inch pan.
9.Mix the brown sugar, Chinese five spice powder, cardamom, cinnamon, and margarine as a filling and spread on top of rolled dough.
10.Roll the dough up and slice them. Place slices down flat on each baking pan.
11.Preheat the oven to 350 F.
12.Keep it aside to rise for 30 minutes.
13.Glaze with a mix of brown sugar and light corn syrup on top of cut pieces.
14.Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown on the top.
15.Once baked, put a serving of nuts on top of the baked cinnamon rolls.
