Ingredients

6 large eggs
2 black tea bags
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
4 pieces star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon cracked black peppercorns ( optional )
dried mandarin orange peel , in strips ( optional )

The dish comprises hard-boiled eggs that have been cracked and simmered in a tea-spice mixture, resulting in a unique and flavorful snack or appetizer. Instructions

1.Bring eggs to a boil for 5 minutes.
2.Remove from heat, and allow to cool for 2 minutes.
3.Gently tap each egg with the back of a spoon to crack the shell, without peeling it off
4.Return the eggs to the pot of boiling water and add black tea bags, soy sauce, salt, sugar, star anise, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns, and dried mandarin orange peel to the pot.
5.Lower the heat, and simmer for around 45 minutes, covered.
6.Turn off the heat, and let the eggs sit in the tea mixture for at least 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
7.Carefully peel off the shells, and serve.
