250 g butter
200 ml sugar
2 eggs
5 tablespoons lyle 's golden syrup
4 flour
5 ml bicarbonate of soda
30 ml ground ginger
10 ml ground cinnamon
5 ml ground cloves
125 ml extra sugar , for coating

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
2.In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and Lyle’s Golden Syrup.
3.In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix until well combined.
4.Roll teaspoons of dough into balls, then coat in extra sugar.
5.Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
6.Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
