2 onions , thinly sliced , divided
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup yogurt
1/2 cup dry lentils
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 teaspoon crushed coriander seed
2 1/2 cups water
crushed red pepper to taste
salt to taste

Instructions

5.Add yogurt and crushed red pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
6.Adjust seasoning to taste and serve hot with bread or rice.
