3 tablespoons caster sugar

Instructions

1.In a blender, blend together the egg, chopped bananas, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
2.In a large bowl, whisk together the self-raising flour, baking powder, caster sugar, and ground allspice.
3.Create a well in the bowl and pour in the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
4.Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rest for 15-20 minutes.
5.In a deep-fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
6.Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on both sides.
7.Remove the mandazis from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
8.Dust with icing sugar and serve with fresh basil leaves.
