Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 375°F.
2.In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy. Then, add 1 egg and beat.
3.Add the flour, baking powder, and salt, mix until the mixture is crumbly.
4.Press the crust into the bottom of 9-inch pie dish using your fingers.
5.In another bowl, mix 1/2 cup of milk and the cornflour until smooth.
6.Add the remainder of the milk (4 and 1/2 cups) into a saucepan and bring to boil, stirring to prevent any lumps.
7.When the milk is boiling, add the milk/cornflour mixture and stir until the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat and cool for 10 minutes.
8.Once the milk mixture has cooled, add in the egg yolks, 2 tablespoons of cake flour, butter, vanilla essence, and salt, and mix well.
9.Beat the egg whites in another bowl until it becomes stiff peaks.
10.Combine the egg whites with the milk mixture and stir well. Pour gently over the crust.
11.Bake your Milk Tart for 30 to 40 minutes, or until it is golden to your satisfaction. Then, Refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour before serving.
