Feeding your 14 month old can be a challenge. They are becoming more independent and want to feed themselves, but may not be skilled enough to eat certain foods yet. It’s important to offer a variety of nutrient-rich foods to support their growth and development. Here are some meal ideas that your little one is sure to love:
Breakfast:
– Oatmeal with fruit: cook rolled oats with water, breast milk or formula, and add in some sliced banana and a few blueberries. Serve it slightly warm or at room temperature for a quick and easy breakfast
– Scrambled eggs: whisk one egg and add any vegetable of your choice like spinach, tomato, onion, or pepper. Cook fluffy scrambled eggs and cut them into small bite-size pieces. Serve with a slice of toast
Lunch:
– Sweet potato soup: boil sweet potato and butternut squash until soft, blend them to a smooth consistency and add in a splash of cream for creamy texture
– Hummus and veggies: baby carrots, slices of cucumber, sliced bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes dipped in hummus for a protein-packed and tasty meal
Snack:
– Apple slices with almond butter: cut apple into thin slices and spread almond butter
– Frozen yogurt bites: fill an ice cube tray with your baby’s favorite yogurt and top with small pieces of fruit. Freeze for 2-3 hours
Dinner:
– Chicken and vegetable stir-fry: grill small pieces of chicken and stir-fry some veggies like broccoli, onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Serve with steamed rice in a small bowl
– Fish and mashed potatoes: bake a fish fillet in quick marinade, prepare mashed potatoes with cheese and seasoning, add some peas and carrots for a complete meal
