Congratulations on making it to the stage where your little one is experimenting with solid foods! At 13 months old, your toddler is growing and requires a healthy and varied diet to get all the nutrients they need. To ensure that your toddler receives a balanced diet, we’ve compiled some meals ideas that are perfect for their age group!
– Banana and Oat Pancakes:
Mash one ripe banana in a bowl with one beaten egg and 2 tablespoons of oats. Heat a non-stick pan and spoon the mixture onto it; cook until the edges are set and bubbles appear.
– Chicken and Broccoli Casserole:
Cook chicken breast until it’s well done and shred into small bits. Sauté broccoli florets and onions in olive oil. Combine cooked rice and the chicken in a baking dish, add canned cream of chicken soup and the sautéed ingredients. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
– Avocado and Cheese Toast:
Toast a piece of whole wheat bread and spread mashed avocado on top; sprinkle shredded cheese on top and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
– Mini Meatballs and Spaghetti:
Combine ground turkey with breadcrumbs, grated onion, finely chopped mushrooms, minced garlic, egg, and some seasonings. Roll mixture into small balls and brown in olive oil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, and combine with marinara.
– Tuna Salad Wrap:
Drain canned tuna and mix with mayonnaise, dill, and chopped celery. Spread the mixture on a tortilla wrap, and spoon in some steamed rice and steamed green beans. Roll it up and serve.
– Sweet Potato Fries and Diced Chicken:
Peel half a sweet potato and slice it thin. Toss in some vegetable oil and seasonings, and roast in the oven at 425°F for 15 minutes. Shred cooked chicken and serve.
Remember, meal times should be a fun and bonding activity between you and your toddler. Sit with them while they eat and be sure to provide healthy portions only. As always, consult with your pediatrician if you have any concerns about your little one’s meal plan.
